OFFICIAL REPORT

GD3 - Activity FEEDBACK REPORT Counterpart meeting
1 - Monday - counterpart meeting On Monday we had our first meeting with the counterpart company aiming to share our initial idea. Gabriel Novato led our presentation to the company and they liked our EcoToys initial idea, saying it is totally feasible in partnership with the company marketing department. However, there are several statutory difficulties when you try to establish a partnership between companies and governmental entities, as public schools. According to the company feedback, our development process is in halfway. For making this possible, first of all, we should think about all the logistic systems (as transport and storage) and the partner companies that are going to recycle this material. The meeting led us to rethink all the ideas, bringing us to brand new opportunities such as working directly to informal waste collectors cooperatives.
2 - Tuesday - tutors called us On Tuesday our tutors called each one of us to cheer us up. This action was really helpful and encouraging for all the members of the group. The counterpart meeting brought us to a despondent mood.
3 - Wednesday - brainstorm Main point: Tracking the Tetra Pak During this meeting with the group, we talked about how we could track the Tetra Pack. We talked about using radio frequency identification (RFID) and using QR Codes. One of the main ideas we discussed was a tracking methodology based on cashback. It would work like some apps that already exist which return money, but in this case, it would return discounts in products in an agreement with supermarkets, grocery stores, and other companies. We discussed how it was going to work, through a mobile application, maybe making partnerships with other companies, etc. We also talked about doing the tracking by “lots” of product. In conclusion, we were thinking and researching ways to track the product, to have statistics about the amount of packages that are recycled.

4 - Thursday - light On Thursday, one light at the end of the tunnel. When we were almost hopeless. we had an idea! Thinking in cooperatives partnerships. We have thought a lot about tracking methods, but our counterpart said it’s not necessary because they already have a solution to this question. They also agreed about our campaign idea, but we have got to improve it. We did some research about tracking systems like blockchain for logistics and how to improve the collecting process.

5 - Friday - reality immersion and report Today we started the day trying a reality immersion. We called (and some of us went to) cooperatives and recycling companies, trying to understand better this reality and what do they really need beyond the regular payment for the packages. During the afternoon we had a meeting with our tutors to talk about our last week, our feelings and to organize our ideas according to our morning immersion experience. We also decided who is going to be the next week leader.

Day 41, Tuesday; May 5th

Everything I wanted is Feedback Today our focus was on improving the website and validating the awareness videos, for that, we prepared a questionnaire for asking people what are their impressions about the videos. We got 138 responses.  We decided to add a quiz to the website page so that the evaluation can be more dynamic and people get more interested in recycling. We are worried about our questionnaires that are answerless. We need more answers.

Day 29 Friday 17/04/2020

THE CONTACT Mariana, one of the tutors, contacted a Tetra Pak consultor. He said they don’t use the plasm technology more, one technology that could split the poly-aluminum into plastic and aluminum. He also explained the recycling process to split the layers of Tetra Pak product, the poly-aluminum goes to the industry to make roofs and the paper becomes paper again. The Tetra Pak consultors did so many critics about the Brazilian Environmental Laws, the prefectures don’t want to do new debts with the recycling. The Tetra Pak company is searching and thinking about new methodologies to apply here in Brazil. We didn’t learn along with our lives how to recycle properly the material because we leave milk inside the box packages. The Industry doesn’t have so many persons interested in collect Tetrapak. The Chapadão do Céu, Goiás,  is a reference city in recycling. Our tutors oriented us to hear more people li
